Davy Michael "Dave" Canter

Davy "Dave" Michael Canter, 70, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away March 9, 2026, at his home in Geneva after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dave was born September 10, 1955, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Denver and Dorothy (Friedt) Canter. He graduated from Ashtabula High School and went on to build a life centered on hard work, family, and craftsmanship.

On December 24, 1985, he married the love of his life, Debra, in Geneva, Ohio. Together they built a family and shared many years of love and memories.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, he spent more than 47 years working in construction as a carpenter specializing in siding and home improvements. He was known for his skill with his hands and the pride he took in building and fixing things.

Dave's greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He loved woodworking, building, and teaching younger generations how to work with their hands while passing on strong values and work ethic.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Canter; his children, Christina (Rob) Lane, Davy (Liz) Canter, Jeremy (Nicole) Canter, Jacob (Shea) Canter, and Keith Green; and his beloved fur babies, Sunny and Bella.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Alayna, Austyn, Jaiden, Johnathan, Makayla, Lucas, Ayden, Benjamin, Alex, Kaiden, Kaylee, and Kaleb; and his siblings; Douglas (Marlene) Canter, Denver "Jake" (Pam) Canter, Donald (Maurine) Canter, Joyce (Tom) Arney, and Tina (Steve) Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Dorothy Canter.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00pm at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041.

Dave will be remembered for his dedication to family, his craftsmanship, and the many lives he touched through his guidance, generosity, and example.
