Dawn Marie Hinnenkamp, 68, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at home after an extended battle with cancer. Her wish was to be cremated and a service will be held at a later date.
Dawn was born on April 24, 1956 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Jerome Joseph and Bernice (Helgerson) Fink. She graduated from Joseph A. Craig High School in Janesville, Wisconsin. On March 6, 1976 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin she married August Hinnenkamp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Bernice Fink. Survivors include her husband, August Hinnenkamp; daughter, Christy (Brian) Koelker; grandson, Drake Koelker; sister, Cheryl Fink and brother, Brian (Jen) Fink.
When growing up, she enjoyed camping and bike riding. Like most older sisters, she took great pleasure in tormenting her siblings but always supported them. Dawn's love of camping continued as she grew older, traveling in the United States and abroad even living in Sardinia, Italy for a period.
Dawn was a master crocheter who loved to share her gift with everyone. She enjoyed the Iowa State Fair and participated the competitions winning several first-place ribbons for both her crochet projects and Norwegian cookies. Her skill at crochet also led to her teaching classes at the state fair. She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern star where she served in many positions including Worthy Matron of the Altoona, Iowa Chapter.
Dawn loved her family and friends. We will always remember her for her pride in her Norwegian heritage, undying passion for the Green Bay Packers and her beautiful smile.
