Dawn Charmaine Buchanan Kutner, a beacon of light and love, completed her earthly journey on March 15, 2026. Born on October 2, 1958, in Chicago and later raised in Houston. Dawn's life was a testament to the joy she found in every moment. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Malcolm (Jim) Kutner, Jr., mother to Annastasia Helbert and James Haich, a beloved stepmother to Malcolm Kutner, III, and Kate Kutner, and an adoring grandmother to Chase and Hannah Tondee, whom she raised. Her sisters, Kim Armbrtuster, Cassandra Sanzo and Elizabeth Andrews, along with numerous nieces and nephews in the Houston area, remember her lovingly.
Dawn's early education was at Sam Houston High School in Houston which led to accomplished careers. She spent 15 years in the stock brokerage business before spending 25 years as a Petroleum Landman working diligently across many parts of Texas. Her professional life was marked by the same integrity and passion she brought to every aspect of her existence.
She lived out her Christian beliefs through her actions and words, inspiring all who knew her. Dawn's home on Shadowood Lake near
Marshall, TX, was not just a dream realized, but a sanctuary where she embraced life's simplest pleasures. The laughter of her grandchildren, Chase and Hannah, during their visits brought a twinkle to her eye.
Dawn was the epitome of a friendly, interesting, and spirited individual. Her ability to engage with people from all walks of life, to find common ground and to share her zest for life, was truly remarkable. She was known for her warm smile, her engaging conversations, and her readiness to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need.
Dawn approached each day as an opportunity to learn, to love, and to make a positive impact on the world around her. Her spirit was indomitable, her energy infectious, and her presence a gift to all who were blessed to know her. She was a good soul and a strong woman who lived life her way!
Though her passing, resulting from an accidental fall followed by 32 days in the hospital, brings deep sorrow, we take solace in the knowledge that Dawn's life was well-lived and that her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched. Her story does not end here, for the love she shared and the faith she held dear ensure that her spirit remains forever woven into the tapestry of our lives.
We celebrate Dawn Charmaine Buchanan Kutner: a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her journey on this earth reflects the divine, an example of how to live with grace, courage, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of each day. As we honor her memory, let us carry forward the light she has left in our hearts, for in doing so, we keep her spirit alive.
