It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dawn Annmarie Pennant; on March 17, 2025, at the age of 57. Dawn passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and the many people whose lives she touched.
Dawn was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, on February 29, 1968 to Cedric and Barbara Pennant. She spent the first ten years or her life in Jamaica before migrating to Canada on July 15, 1978. Dawn spent many years working with children, a reflection of her nurturing spirit and compassion. This dedication was evident in every aspect of her life, as she selflessly cared for those around her.
Dawn was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Pennant; her maternal grandparents, Doris and Granville Thomas; and her paternal grandparents, Louise and Thomas Pennant.
Dawn is survived by her father Cedric, and Siblings: Danna, Lynette, Trevor (Stephanie), Andrew (Melanie), Horace, Christopher (Dragana), Everton, Marlene, and Alrica.
She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Tymeka (Isaiah & Kaliyah), Candice (Kyrie), Brandon, Sherissa (Tyrique & Tsunai), Raishona, Trevyn, Quinton (Azariyah & Zeniyah), Kamal, Dominic, Elijah, Emma, Monique (Sashay, Shane & Jai’vion), Zekhai-Roi, Jace, Nicole, Sherece, Akeem, Barney, Dean, Sashanna and Shae.
Dawn is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins— Royle (Millicent), Lauriston (Glenda), Anthony, Winston (Sonia), Noel, Arlington, Alvin; Shirley, Lesa, Isolyn, Phyllis, and Peggy - along with her cherished church family at the Apostolic Ark Pentecostal Church of Calgary. In addition, Dawn will be deeply missed by the children she loved and cared for throughout her life: Shemar, Cordain, and Dana, as well as many friends and her beloved cat, Ollie.
Her kindness, love, and radiant spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and cherished memories that will continue to touch all who were blessed to know her.
A public viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral service following promptly at 10:00 a.m on April 5th, 2025 at Showers of Blessings Apostolic Church, 3915 34 St NE. Burial services to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, 243208 Garden Road.
