Dawn Elaine Stornant, age 64, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on May 9, 1961, in Jackson, MI, the daughter of Kenneth Howard and Evelyn Irene (Geer) Gonser. She was married to Benedict G. Stornant, who survives her.
Dawn was self-employed as a cosmetologist and was the former owner of Scissors on Wheels. She was a devout Christian who was a faithful member and participant in ACTS retreats. She enjoyed staying in close touch with her sisters and spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren. Affectionately known as Mimi by her grandkids, she cherished each of them deeply and lit up when she was with them. This past year, Dawn embraced adventure and togetherness, traveling in her RV and abroad to spend cherished time with her children and grandchildren.
She was an avid sports fan and, in her younger years, enjoyed playing volleyball. Dawn was a devoted animal lover and held a special place in her heart for her dogs.
In addition to her husband, Benedict, she is survived by her mother, Evelyn Gonser of Adrian, MI; her children, Zachary (Paola) Stornant of The Woodlands, TX, Lindsey (Thad) Mills of Magnolia, TX, and Trevor Stornant of Clinton, MI; six grandchildren, Lukas, Lillian, Mila, and David Stornant, and Lia and Livia Mills; two sisters, Terri (Mitch) Fields of LaSalle, Ontario, and Kim (Jeff) Langley of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth.
At her request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Herrick Chapel on the campus of Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., prior to the service.
