Dawn Tyler, of Dawson, died Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 69.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Florida Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Canby.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5-7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Thre will be visitation at the church for one hour before the service.
Dawn Marie (Haugen) Tyler was born September 16, 1955 in Dawson, MN the daughter of Arnold and Celesta (Hanson) Haugen. She was baptized and confirmed at Florida Lutheran Church. Dawn graduated from Madison High School in 1973 and then from St. Olaf College with a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse at Johnson Memorial from 1977 until retiring in 2021. Dawn was united in marriage with Lowell Tyler on June 21, 1980 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. They had 2 children: Matthew and William. They raised their children and enjoyed traveling. She liked knitting, sewing, gardening and canning. She also enjoyed to repurpose things and remodel houses. Dawn was a great cook and she also loved baking and making lefse.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell; two sons: Matthew Tyler of Willmar and Bill (Tanya) Tyler of Dawson; a grandson, Joseph Paradis; an uncle, Roger (Patricia) Haugen; and extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and aunts and uncles: Reuben (Evelyn) Storlien and James (Marion) Olson.
