Dawson Grover Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 11, 2025.
Dawson Cole Grover (Dissy), 25, of Rexburg, peacefully entered the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father on August 5, 2025. Dawson was born on February 24, 2000 in Rexburg, Idaho to Justin D. Grover and Heather Virgin. He was a beautiful baby and had big blue eyes. He was his momma's pride and joy from the start. His family remembers his little giggle, and his larger than life personality. He was all boy and kept his momma on her toes at all times. When one chapter of life closed, another began - Bringing Dawson two little sisters, His forever friends, Tearah and Kaylie. He loved and adored them and was fiercely protective of them. He was fortunate to be raised near family, so some of his closest friends were his cousins. They shared so many laughs together through texts, talking over the phone, time spent playing video games, hanging out at family gatherings, and riding bikes and scooters at the skate park, and always looked out for each other. So many countless moments that will be treasured forever. One of Dawson's greatest attributes was how much he loved people! He had a huge heart and a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh. Dawson had a way of making people feel comfortable, safe, and accepted. He genuinely cared about people and their feelings. From the time he could talk, Dawson had a lot to say. He was a little chatterbox and was always making new friends. Dawson and his mom shared an unbreakable bond–she was the light that guided him through the darkest times and the calm that steadied him during life's storms. Their daily conversations were a cherished ritual, a steady rhythm that brought comfort and connection no matter what the day held. She was not just his mother but his closest confidante, his biggest cheerleader, and his safe harbor. The love they shared was a beautiful thing to witness. He attended schools in Rigby and received his GED from EITC in 2018. Dawson worked in different fields, always willing to learn something new. He wore many hats during his working years. His favorite job was working alongside his cousin at ServPro. On April 21, 2018, Dawson married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jaycee Paige Crook. They were later divorced, but his love for her never changed. He became a father to "his whole world", Oliver Cole Grover on December 12, 2022. In Dawson's own words, "That little boy saved my life." They had a special bond and connection. They loved to spend time together doing many activities including rides in "daddy's race car," cuddling on the couch, watching cartoons, playing with toys and making music. Dawson enjoyed archery hunting, fishing and searching for antler sheds with his dad, Justin; attending PBR and Rodeo events with his uncle Cameron; attending concerts with family; cooking meals for his friends; watching football and cheering on his team, the 49ers with his bonus dad, Brian; going to grandma days with his grandma Reenie; and grandma/grandpa campouts with his grandparents Virgin. He loved cars, especially HIS car, a Honda Civic Si and dreamed of becoming a mechanic someday. Dawson was a natural performer and wrote all of his own lyrics. He enjoyed making music and being on stage. He and his cousin, Traa, opened for several popular artists at local venues. At the time of his passing, Dawson was enrolled in the Barbering Program at Paul Mitchell The School Rexburg and he loved it! He was looking forward to giving his youngest cousins their school haircuts the following day. He was the happiest he had ever been and very optimistic about his future. Dawson is survived by his parents, Justin and Emily Grover, and Brian and Heather Davis; His former wife and friend, Jaycee Crook, the mother of his child; Son, Oliver Cole Grover; Grandparents, Maureen Thurston, and Ryan and Debbie Virgin; Sisters, Tearah Davis and Kaylie Grover; Step siblings, Bryce Bogan, Avery Turner, Paityn Jorgensen and Brynn Jorgensen; and Many Cherished aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly; As well as his fur babies, Pepper and Nipsey.
