Dayton Wesley Spivey

Dayton Wesley Spivey of Gorman, age 91, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, in Eastland, Texas. Wesley, as he was known, was born May 17, 1934, in Comanche County where he was raised. He was the eldest of 6 children to Wesley E. and Johnnie Reese Spivey.

After serving for four years in the U.S. Army, Wesley returned home to marry Patricia Sue Johnson of Gorman in 1959, and together they made Gorman their home. He was employed by Birdsong Peanuts for 26 years, retiring as a mill foreman in 1991. Following his retirement, he worked as a ranch foreman for several years. He enjoyed his farm, his cows and horses, and his best little dog buddy, Sweetie, who accompanied him everywhere he went.

Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, and his son Steve Spivey, both in 2007. He is survived by his three grandchildren, Adam, Colby, and Lauren Spivey, his great-granddaughter Kimberlynn Spivey, and his daughter-in-law Tracy Spivey, all of Gorman.

Graveside service for Wesley will be Monday, October 20, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Gorman Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
