De Morris “Debbie” A. Capps, of Elk Grove, California, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the Woods Board & Care home in Elk Grove. She was 79 years old, and as she often said, “not a day over 50… in spirit.”

Debbie was born on March 1, 1946, in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late John Lett and Rose Stallings. From humble beginnings, she grew into a woman full of grace, humor, and boundless love.

She met and married the love of her life, David L. Capps Sr., and together they shared 52 years of marriage, a journey filled with laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion.

Debbie is survived by her two children: David Jr. and his wife, Kim, along with their children Joey, Toni, and Taylor; and her son Kevin, and his sons Nicolas, Jake, and Josh. She loved nothing more than being "Grandma," and she proudly held the title like royalty.

A woman of many talents, Debbie had a soft spot for all things crafty. Whether she was quilting, hemming pants for the third time, or sewing an elaborate church costume, her sewing machine was always humming (sometimes to her family’s amusement and occasional terror). If it had a stitch in it, Debbie could make it, fix it, or make it better.

She was a lifelong, active member of every church she called home, both in Texas and in Elk Grove. Her faith was steady, her heart was generous, and her smile was pure sunshine. She had a gentle spirit and a playful sense of humor that made everyone feel seen, loved, and just a little lighter.

Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the memories we share, and the love she gave so freely.

A graveside service will be held on April 9th, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.at Memory Gardens, Jefferson County, Nederland, Texas, where we will gather to celebrate her life, laugh at her stories, and honor the beautiful woman she was.
