Geraldine Caustrita (1941-2025)
After a full life of devoted service to Jehovah God and family Geraldine Caustrita, 83, of
Elk Grove, CA fulfilled her earthly course on August 14, 2025.
A California native, our mother was born in Anaheim, CA in 1941 to Paul and Olivia Moreno loving parents who raised seven children in Garden Grove, CA. She married our father, Steven Caustrita in 1958 at seventeen. At just twenty-three, with two small children and one on the way, she lost her mother and nearly lost our father after a horrific car accident within just a three month span. We believe these experiences were the source of our mother's resilience, compassion, and dedication to her spiritual practice that we all know her for today. After learning about the hope of the resurrection, it is during this era she dedicated her life to Jehovah being baptized in 1969 .
Our parents raised four children, Steven, Julie, Monica and Sabrina in their family home in La Puente, CA. She became a dedicated grandmother who helped raise thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. In 1995 she saw our dad through his own health battles & passing; and although she struggled for quite some time, she found her light & resilience and carried on for her family. She remained dedicated to my father and their love her entire life.
Being a native of California, our mother loved the outdoors. We have years upon years of memories camping together as a family in Yosemite. Being raised so close to the ocean, she loved the beach and wouldn't hesitate to fill the car up with all the grandchildren and take them for the day. It is truly a blessing that nearly all of her children & grandchildren have had the opportunity to spend time outdoors with her.
Our mother's bags were always packed and her adventurous spirit was always ready to go. In her last decade of life we took many family vacations to Hawaii, San Diego, and into the mountains. Those days will forever live in our hearts.
In her profession she served as a regional manager for a food demonstration
marketing company for many years and oversaw a large territory in Southern California. Just like in every part of her life, she made numerous friends and helped people in her profession. She provided many of her grandchildren their first job handing out samples and selling food products in stores. Always resourceful, she worked remotely from Northern California for 5 years prior to retiring.
She moved here to Elk Grove to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren in 2004. She cared deeply for them and was there for them as they hit every important milestone in their lives. She was met with open arms by the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, here in Elk Grove. With her local congregation, she has traveled where the need is great in North Dakota, Oregon, Idaho, and throughout California. She has also been to Baja California, New York, Hawaii and across the globe to Fiji, proclaiming the good news of God's kingdom . She was a full time pioneer, joined the Fijian group and learned a 3rd language in order to share the word of God. Her spiritual practice, connection and purpose led to her having a long fulfilled life. We will always be grateful to the brothers and sisters in the congregation who are her second family.
Our Mother has left a profound impact on us all.
May her warmth and spirit stay alive in each of us.
May her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren understand the deep love that she held for them.
Take comfort in her favorite bible verse:
Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
