DEACON LEROY DIVINITY, SR.

Leroy Divinity, Sr. entered eternal rest at residence on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 86. He was a native of Copiah County, MS, and a resident of Marrero, LA. He was a graduate of Port Gibson High School in MS.  After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army. Upon completing his military service, he began working in construction, and later for Boeing Company. Leroy retired in 2000 from Martin Marietta, after 25 years of exemplary service.  He was a faithful member of New Salem Church of Christ Holiness, where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board and sang in the senior choir just to name a few. Devoted husband of 59 years to Mildred Leaner Mae Smith Divinity. Father of Bishop Leroy (Pamella) Divinity, Jr., Dexter (Angela) Henderson, Darlene Divinity, and the late Marcy Annette Divinity.  Grandfather of Israel (Jasmine), Leroy “Trey”, Antonia, Deborah, and Darnell (Candic). Son of the late Ernest Divinity, Velma Mason Divinity Wilson, and Ellis Wilson. Brother of Joseph Bernard Divinity, Percy (Sylvia) Thomas, Rosie Watts, Mary Lillian Harris, and the late Cornell Divinity, Sr., and Ernest Lee “Moon” (Murl) Divinity, also survived by a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Salem Church of Christ Holiness, and all surrounding churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at New Salem Church of Christ Holiness, 1540 Mansfield Avenue, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 11:00a.m. Elder George Taylor officiating.
