Dean Bennett, 79, of Lewisport, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 10, 1944 in Daviess County to the late Orlando Ray and Ethel Charlotta Thompson Bennett. Dean was retired after 40 years with the Whirlpool Corporation and a member of Thruston United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #9 and the V.F.W. Post #696. He also was a member of the Ensor Masonic Lodge #729, the Rizpah Shrine Temple, the Eastern Star, Moose Lodge in Tell City, the International Order of Oddfellows, and the Rebekah’s. Dean enjoyed woodworking, working in the yard, model railroading, and reading. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife around the country camping in their travel trailer, and collecting various books and unusual items.
Dean was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Tommy Bennett.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Mary Bennett; two daughters, Brandy Boyias (Chris) of Tampa, Florida and Kelley Wendorf of California; two stepchildren, Lezlee McCauley of Lewisport and Christopher Sampson (Gina) of Arizona; one grandchild, Samantha Wendorf of Texas; three step grandchildren, Devon Musselman, Dalton McCauley, and Crystal Elliott; a sister, Angie Turnbough of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and missed his dog Stubby and cat Puddin very much.
Funeral services will be 7 PM Friday, November 10, at the Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3 PM until time of services at the funeral home. There will be Eastern Star and Masonic services at 5:45 PM and 6 PM.
