Dean Leroy Cook, 61, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away at his home on February 20, 2026. Dean was born on April 20, 1964 in Stratton, Nebraska to John and Janice (Daniel) Cook. After graduating from high school, he worked various jobs before deciding to join the United States Navy in November of 1986. In April of 1989 he was sent aboard the USS Carl Vinson.
After completing his time in the military, Dean returned to Trenton, Nebraska. He was employed at Don’s Electric for many years. Dean left Trenton and moved to Colorado where he lived until his passing. While in Colorado he worked a variety of mechanic jobs, the most recent being at Industrial Electric Motors in Brighton.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Janice Decker (1997) and John Cook (2019) and son, Nicholas Cook (2020).
Survivors include his children: Lacy (Brandon) Caddick of Trenton, Laken (Jared) Vrbas of Trenton and Zach (Kasey) Cook of McCook; grandchildren: Noah Caddick, Issaac Vrbas, Eastyn Vrbas, Izabelle Caddick, Alivia Vrbas, Evan Caddick, Oliver Vrbas and Myles Cook; stepmother, Linda Cook; siblings: Mark (Sondra) Garton, Kim (Kevin) Oberg, Kelly Cook, Travis (Kimberly) Cook and Tracy (Scott) Propp; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was chosen and services are pending at this time.
Memorials are suggested to the family of Dean Cook for future designation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.
