Donald Dean Goad, age 81 of Gothenburg, Nebraska died Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Gothenburg Health in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
“Dean” was born on June 4, 1943 in Wallace, Nebraska the 11th of 12 children to Archie and Marie (Tesar) Goad. He graduated from Wallace High School with the class of 1960. Dean and Linda married in Wellfleet, NE on November 28, 1964. In 1967 they moved to Gothenburg and together, began what would become 55+ years of business in fuel, auto and tire service and cattle production in Gothenburg.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Cooper) Goad, daughter Kimberly Goad of Gothenburg, son Ross (Cynthia) Goad of Gothenburg, three grand children Alexandra Goad, Michael (Shilo) Goad, and Jonathan Goad, two great-grand children, Kaiser & Arianna, two brothers, Ronald Goad and Warren Goad both of Salem, OR; two sisters Loretta Alberty of Bakersfield, CA and Phyllis Coppersmith of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Archie Goad, brothers Robert Goad, Joseph Goad, David Goad, Gerald Goad and infant brother Harley and sisters Eula Gibbs and Dorothy Collins.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm and a Rosary at 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Good Lady of Counsel Catholic Church,1915 Ave J, Gothenburg, Nebraska, Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 10:30 am with Father Joseph Ravi officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wellfleet Cemetery, Wellfleet, NE.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church or the family for later designation.
