Brenny Family Funeral Chapel & Crematory Services - Baxter/BrainerdDean Carl “Swede” Jansson, age 86, of Baxter, Minnesota, formerly of Ramsey, passed away on November 9, 2025.
Born in Minneapolis, Dean proudly served his country as a United States Marine before beginning a 35-year career as an electrical lineman. His dedication, reliability, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who worked beside him.
A proud first-generation American, Dean was the son of Swedish immigrants, Erick and Alice Jansson. He carried his heritage with pride—100% Swedish and proud of it—and often joked about being the oldest living Jansson to date.
Dean was an avid outdoorsman who found his greatest joy in nature—whether hunting, fishing, or trapshooting. He especially enjoyed time spent at the gun club, where he loved to “BS” with his buddies and play pull tabs at Bootleggers.
He never missed an opportunity to fire up the grill, always ready to throw on a steak and gather with friends and family. Dean’s quick wit and sense of humor were known by all—his famous phrases, “Let’s go in one more time,” and “I don’t eat that much anymore,” usually said while piling food onto his plate, will be fondly remembered for years to come.
Dean is survived by his daughter Lori (Dion) Gunderson; son Steven Jansson; grandchildren Ashley (Dustin) Moser, Austin (Holly Hanson) Gunderson, Buck (Katie) Jansson, Mathew Jansson, Lucas (Alison) Jansson, and Dylan (Emma) Jansson; and great-grandchildren Paisley, Josie, Masen, Aubree, Ava, Ellie, June, Lydia, Adalee, Finley, Charlie, and Lucy. He is also survived by his brothers Jon Jansson and Michael (Christina) Jansson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Edna; parents, Erick and Alice; brothers, Bruce, Milton, Richard, and Alvin; and daughter-in-law, Michele.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be presented, and lunch will follow.
