DEAN J. LYNCH

1947 - 2024

LYNCH, Dean J. Of Weymouth, formerly of Milton and Dorchester, passed away suddenly on April 9, 2024. Born in Reading to the late James Lynch and Jean (Mullen) Lynch. Dean was raised in Manchester-by-the-Sea and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Dean was a spirited culinarian and entrepreneur. His career included the famed Lock Ober's restaurant, where he was Chef, Food and Beverage Director. When he left Lock Ober, he took eleven of the staff and started Schroeder's Restaurant on High Street in Boston, which he operated for 16 years. He was also proprietor of Mass Video Partners/Blockbuster Video, L&L Products and Boston Chicken. He held culinary and management positions at King's Bay Yacht & Country Club, Chez Vendome, The Eden Roc in Miami as well as the Bay Tower Room in Boston. Later on, he worked as an adjunct professor of Culinary Arts at Newbury College. Dean's greatest role was that of an amazing father to Clinton, Jordan and the late Grant Lynch. He was married to the love of his life, Joan Lynch, whom he shared 45 amazing years together with. Dean was also a passionate skeet shooter and former volunteer club instructor at Minuteman in Burlington. Surviving Dean is his loving wife, Joan of Weymouth; sons, Clinton of Stoughton and Jordan of Quincy. His brother, Wayne Lynch and wife, Nina of South Carolina; his sisters, Sandra and husband, Gerbin Swart of Florida and Jill and Thomas Tucker of Andover, MA. Visiting Hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Wednesday, April 17, from 4 to 8 PM. Family and friends invited.
