Dean T. Ruger

Dean (Tom) Thomas Ruger, 85, of Coldwater, MI, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born on October 31, 1940, in Lansing to Ivan Ford and Mildred Arlene (McGill) Ruger.

Dean graduated from Jonesville High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed many hobbies. As a young man he loved hunting in the woods for morel mushrooms and old medicine bottles. As he grew older, he always had a project going on, whether he was making wine, growing hot peppers, to even plotting his hike on the Appalachian Trail.

He was blessed and loved by many. Special thanks to his niece, Nancy and her husband Darrell Adams, who were not only family, but caregivers and good friends.

Dean is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Scott) Brasington of Florida; two sons, Dean (Tina) Ruger, Jr. of California, Brad (Ginger) Ruger of Georgia; three brothers, Larry Rogers of Michigan, Robert (Linda) Ruger, Gary (Janet) Rogers both of Florida and two sisters Janet (Mel) McBride), and Suzy Stevenson. Six grandchildren: Malia, Trace, Jacob, Emily, Olivia and Ethan; Sixteen nephews and nieces.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Ruger-Lake; one brother, Doug Ruger and one granddaughter, Sophia Ruger.

At his request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services or calling hours for Dean T. Ruger at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home – George White Chapel in Quincy.
