Dean J. Slocum, a beloved father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2025, in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. Born on October 1, 1964, in Muskegon, Michigan, Dean was a man who truly walked to his own beat, embodying a spirit of individuality.
Throughout his life, Dean did his best to take care of his family, particularly in his role as a caregiver for his father, Lewis Slocum, during his final days.
He is survived by his two daughters, Katherine Slocum and Jessica (Alex) Bollin. Dean was also a grandfather to three grandchildren, Lanya, Jasmine, and Kingston Head, who brought immense joy into his life. Also surviving are his siblings, Sandra Puisis and Brian (Vickie) Slocum, along with two nephews, Brent Puisis and Keith (Stephanie) Puisis.
Dean had a penchant for enjoying life's simple pleasures. He loved long car rides, particularly relishing the beauty of nature as the leaves changed colors in the fall. He also found delight in exploring yard sales, always looking for the next hidden treasure. These hobbies exemplified his appreciation for life's moments.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis and Helena (Bogner) Slocum, and his brother, Bill Slocum. His spirit will continue to resonate in the lives of his family and friends, inspiring all who knew him to embrace their individual paths with the same passion he carried throughout his journey.
