Mrs. Deane S. Henson, age 73, of Advance, NC, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at her home. She was born June 12, 1950, in Roanoke, VA, to the late Jack Gardner Stewart and Doris Imogene Roberts Stewart.
Mrs. Henson had retired from the NC Public School system serving her last years at Reagan High School.
Deane was preceded her in death by her brother, Jack G “Sam” Stewart. She is survived by her husband, John F. Bobbitt; two sisters, Leslie J Stewart and Mary E Stewart and husband Jimmy Smith; one nephew, James P. Stewart; extended family members; and her longtime friend and neighbor, Susan Utsey, who will be speaking at her funeral.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
