Deanna Lynn Johnson, aged 58, of Fairborn, OH, passed away, November 19, 2025. She was born December 18, 1966, in Xenia, OH, the daughter of the late Leroy James Layne and Eugenia (Conley) Ballinger.
Deanna devoted 25 years of her career to serving as a warehouse specialist at the Wright-Patterson AFB Materiel Command. Her commitment and work ethic were evident in all she undertook, reflecting a profound sense of responsibility and pride.
Beyond the workplace, Deanna was enriched by fishing, cooking, and attending car shows. A passionate enthusiast of classic American automobiles, she held a special place in her heart for the iconic 1967 Pontiac GTO, which stood as a testament to her love for timeless design and engineering.
Family was at the core of who Deanna was. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, often gathering loved ones to share precious moments and create lasting memories. Known for her exceptional ability to remember and recount family details, she was the cornerstone of her family’s history, the go-to source for questions and stories that connected generations. Her pride in her family was evident, and she took joy in ensuring that everyone felt valued and appreciated.
Deanna’s legacy is one of love, wisdom, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Her spirit will be missed but never forgotten, as her love and cherished memories continue to resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Deanna is preceded in death by a devoted companion of 30 years, “Jackie” Whitt; her second father, Mark Ballinger. She is survived by four children, Derek (Carly) Johnson, Felicia (Rick) Puckett, Justin Whitt, Dylan Whitt; five grandchildren, Garrett, Regan, Elena, Xander, Connor; brother, Sean (Sandy) Layne; extended family, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH, 45324. The family will receive visitors from 9:30AM until the time of service, Pastor Eric D. Meade officiating. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH.
