Deanna Sides Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughey Funeral Home on Jan. 29, 2022.
Deanna K Sides, 81, of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away at 12:16 am January 28, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born September 24, 1940 in Mount Vernon to the late Clyde Orr Price and June Maxine (Endicott) Phillips. Deanna married Ron Sides on December 22, 1957 at Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage.
In addition to her beloved husband, Deanna is survived by her daughters, Laura Sides of Saint Louis, Missouri and Stephanie Mings of Marion, Illinois; grandchildren, Brendan Mings and wife, Ashley of Johnston City, Illinois and Bailey Anderson and husband, Nick of Marion, Illinois; sister, Claudia Dorris and husband, Don of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
Deanna was a faithful member of Woodlawn Christian Church. She was an artist and had a loving heart. Deanna was known as the "card lady," because you could always count on her to send you a greeting card, no matter the holiday or event. We are left with wonderful memories of Deanna that will stay with us forever, including her message she shared often, "be kind." Deanna will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Mr. Doug Junkins officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Memorials may be made in Deanna's honor to the Woodlawn Christian Church.

I was very sorry to hear about your mother. I know your heart hurts, and you have been in my prayers ever since I heard. I don't think any of us ever get over losing our mothers. We just have to keep remembering that if we know the Lord, we will see them again someday. Wishing you love and blessings. Carla Welker-Madden
