Debara D. Hanshaw, age 73, of Belleville, KS, passed away on June 14, 2025, in Salina, KS. Deb was born on September 20, 1951, in Concordia, KS, to Kenneth and Iona (Hammer) Tuley. She grew up near Republic, KS, and graduated from Republic High School and Bethany College. Throughout her years in high school, she was heavily involved in athletics and social clubs. At Bethany College, she was a member of Sigma Phi Omega sorority and the initial women’s basketball program.
After college, Deb married Thomas Poole. They resided in Lindsborg and had two sons, Thayne and Norris. She later married Norman Hanshaw on May 31, 1985, residing in Belleville. Together they gathered many memories spending time at their cabin at Lovewell, traveling far and wide, and entertaining friends and family.
Deb had a passion for golfing, cabin trips, country club and deck time with her friends, attending any sporting event, bowling, and reading. She was an avid supporter of the boys’ activities and never missed any of their games in high school and college.
She is survived by her children, Thayne (Michelle) Poole of Belleville, Norris (Cara) Poole of Colwich, grandsons Owen and Davis Poole of Colwich, granddaughter Katelyn Morain of Belleville, siblings Loisann (Mark) Brown, Karla (Dean) Edmiston, Mark Tuley, and Kris (Mark) Welch. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, and her parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:30 am, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, KS. Graveside services will follow at the Belleville City Cemetery. Following the graveside service, all friends and family are invited to a luncheon in the upstairs of the Belleville Country Club.
