Our mother, Debbie Lynn Small, passed away in the arms of her loving husband, surrounded by her children on July 21, 2024. She was, and always will be, the heart of our family and we are so grateful to know we will see her again someday.
Mom was born December 17, 1962 in Mission Hills, California to Claudia Weber-Timmerman and Larry Weber. She was sweet and beautiful and loved by so many. She was active in softball, drill team, and was an avid bowler, eventually graduating from Monroe High School. She had many friends, was a favorite math tutor, and even the Frontier Days princess.
Mom and Dad were next door neighbors growing up, and they have always been our favorite love story. One of the biggest blessings in our lives has been the way our mom and dad have loved each other over their 42 years of marriage. Dad always says, "I love that girl." They were sealed for eternity in the Los Angeles temple in a beautiful white dress she made herself.
If you had asked mom what was the greatest joy and accomplishment in her life, she would say it was being a mother. She had 6 kids in under 9 years and everywhere we went she was always asked, "Are these all yours?" She never missed a softball or baseball game, track or cross country meet, football game, snowboarding, lacrosse game, or any of our school plays. She was always the one in the crowd cheering the loudest. We were the joy of her life.
Mom and dad moved from Quartz Hill, California to Eagle Idaho to raise us where they knew we would thrive. She taught us girls all of the joys of homemaking, including canning, baking, sewing, decorating, and her many other talents. They more recently made Midway, Utah their home and have loved living in the mountains.
One of the things we admire most about mom was just how smart she was. She always had an entrepreneurial spirit and instilled her work ethic in us, her children. She owned a scrapbook store, a gift basket company, was a licensed insurance agent, and most recently, ran a thriving bakery with her daughters. She was known and loved by the community.
Mom is forever loved by dad, Ed Small, her children, Kristen (Danny) Whitby, Ryan (Sarah) Small, Megan (Greg) Jacobsen, Shannon (Nate) Edwards, Devan (Spencer) Jacobsen, and Justin (Katie) Small, her grandchildren Emily, Bella, Alisa, Halle, Ella, Dax, Rykley, Peyton, Carly, Colton, Carson, Addie Jo, Finley, Jack, and Luke, and many other family members including her mother, Claudia Timmerman, mother-in-law, Mary Jo Small, brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and many adopted children and grandchildren she took under her wing.
We aren't sure how to navigate this loss yet, but there is one thing we do know for sure. Mom had a strong faith in our loving Heavenly Father. We know she is happy, and will still very much be a part of our lives. In mom's memory, we ask that you hug your loved ones, serve someone in need, or take someone under your wing. We are so appreciative of the love, support and prayers we have received.
