Whitney & Murphy Bueler MortuaryWith profound sadness, we announce the passing of Debbie Stanford, who left us unexpectedly on September 16, 2025, at the age of 70. Born in Oakland, California on September 9, 1955, Debbie brought joy, warmth, and love to all who knew her.
Debbie was a devoted mother to Laurie Gilliard and Mike Amato, a proud grandmother to Tanecia Boyer, Kiana Gilliard, Kaiya Amato, and Kayden Amato, and a loving great-grandmother to Siobhan Boyer. Her family was her heart, and she poured her energy, creativity, and love into every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her siblings Denise, Barbie, Lavern, David, Rocky, and Roland. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold Miller and Mary Stark as well as her brother Tony and sister Patricia. She is also survived by her first husband, Mike Amato, and was preceded in death by her second husband, Mike Stanford.
Debbie had a successful career in the banking industry before reinventing herself later in life, running her own business hosting poker tournaments at a local bar—bringing people together in her signature fun, welcoming way. She had a passion for crafting, shopping (especially for her granddaughters), and celebrating the holidays—Christmas in particular. Every year, she transformed her home into a winter wonderland, decorating every inch with love and care, and making sure everyone received the perfect gift.
An animal lover through and through, Debbie adored dogs and had many beloved companions over the years. Her generous spirit was unmatched—her personal motto was “random acts of kindness,” a reflection of how she lived her life. Whether it was a small thoughtful gesture or a big-hearted gift, Debbie gave selflessly and without hesitation.
She was truly the sweetest, most giving soul, and she will be deeply missed by every single person who had the joy of knowing her.
