Deborah Bernard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yates Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Fort Pierce on Oct. 8, 2024.
Deborah Ann Bernard, known affectionately as Debbie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, at the age of 68. Born on November 22, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, Debbie was the cherished daughter of the late Norman and Jeanette Popelchuck. She was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Debbie was a proud graduate of Lincoln Park High School, class of 1973, where she formed lifelong friendships. After graduation, she embarked on a fulfilling career in the restaurant industry, serving as a manager for over 30 years. Her passion for service, combined with her innate ability to connect with people, made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and the many patrons she encountered.
In her personal life, Debbie was a devoted wife to her husband, Mark Bernard, and a loving mother to her daughters, Brita Campbell (husband Travis) and Amanda Lewis (husband Jay). Her role as a grandmother to Seth Richardson and Gibson Lewis was one she cherished with every ounce of her being. The time spent with her grandsons was filled with joy, laughter, and the kind of memories that become cherished family treasures.
Debbie's interests were as rich and varied as her personality. An avid reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of her favorite books. Her most recent endeavor was attending art class and learning to paint. Cooking and baking were not just hobbies for Debbie but a way to share her love. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, where friends and family were always welcomed with open arms and the promise of a delicious meal.
Described as loving, generous, and courageous by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her, Debbie's legacy is one of kindness and selflessness. She had the rare ability to make each person feel valued and heard, whether it was through her encouraging words or her thoughtful deeds. Her commitment to her community was evident in the countless lives she touched through her work and her volunteer efforts.
Debbie's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one person can have on the world around them. Her unwavering support and boundless generosity were the cornerstones of her life, and they are the qualities that her family and friends will carry forward in her honor.
As we bid farewell to Deborah Ann Bernard, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. Her spirit, characterized by a profound love for her family and an enduring commitment to friendship and community, will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and the many lives she touched with her extraordinary kindness.
Debbie's family will hold a private ceremony to honor her life and the love she shared with so many. They extend their heartfelt thanks to family, friends and the community for the outpouring of support during this difficult time as they grieve and remember a truly remarkable woman. Debbie's light shone brightly during her time on earth, and it will continue to illuminate the lives of those she loved for years to come.
