MARK ANDERSON Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strunk Funeral Homes and Crematory - Vero Beach on Feb. 3, 2026.
On January 26, 2026, the Treasure Coast boating community lost one of its most respected and enduring figures. Mark Anderson, 78, concluded his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, passing peacefully at his Grand Harbor home in Vero Beach, Florida.

A familiar and beloved presence on the docks of Fort Pierce and Vero Beach since the 1970s, Mark began his life on the water in the late 1960s when he worked as a mate on charter fishing boats in the Lower Keys. His love of the marine world guided every step of his long and accomplished career.

Mark moved to the Treasure Coast in the mid-1970s, accepting a sales position with Putnam Marine. In 1977, he joined Taylor Creek Marina as the manager, where he played a pivotal role in mentoring countless men and women who would go on to shape and lead the Treasure Coast's marine industry. Businesses associated with Mark over the last 45 years included Taylor Creek Marina, Boatland, Adventure Marine, St. Lucie Outboard, and Vero Marine Center. In 2014, Mark retired from Vero Marine Center after 11 years of dedicated service as a trusted and well-loved Grady-White salesman.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Commander Paul Harold Anderson and Eugenia Anderson and by former spouses Joma Anderson and Nancy Anderson. He is survived by his loving spouse, Margaret "Peggy" Anderson. Mark's passing is mourned by his family and extended family: Paula Lelekis (John), Colonel Shawn Anderson (Heather), Stacy Anderson, Michael Malone (Brooke), Carrie Malone, Sean O'Quinn (Anna), Ryan O'Quinn, Eveleyn Anderson, Willa Anderson, Ryland O'Quinn, Iain O'Quinn, Tegan O'Quinn, Isla O'Quinn, and Hadley Hostetler.

Mark was born in Norfolk County, Virginia on May 26th 1947. He attended high schools in San Diego, California and Fairfax County, Virginia and was a graduate of Florida Atlantic University.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Mark's name to the VNA & Hospice Foundation of Indian River County at 920 37th Place, Suite 101, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A private celebration of life is planned for April.
