Deborah Czechowicz

Deborah "Deb" Czechowicz passed away in peace, surrounded by her family and best friend, on June 24 after bravely battling lung cancer for two years. She was just 60 years old.
Deb's greatest love was her family. She will be forever cherished by her surviving husband Bob, children Monica (Heath) and Evan (Melissa), granddaughter Sage, and beloved dog Evee. Deb is also survived by her sister Dede (Ray) and Mother Paula. She was preceded in death by her son, Mitchell, and father, Jerry.
Deb grew up in Warren, Michigan in a neighborhood with many close families and friends. She attended Michigan State University, received a degree in Advertising, and shortly after starting work in her chosen profession met her husband-to-be, Bob. Their connection was immediate, and after marrying they began a series of moves between Michigan and Ohio that over the next decade would include nine different addresses, eventually putting down roots in Saline, Michigan.
During this period, Deb had three children and became a stay-at-home mom in order to devote herself full-time to their learning and growth, creating many wonderful lasting memories. For several years she home-schooled them, and it was during this time that her natural gift for helping people really began to emerge.
Once her youngest started high school, Deb decided to build on that gift and the experience she had gained in child development. She enrolled at Wayne State University, and after 4 years earned an MA in Counseling with a specialty in Art Therapy. It was during this time that, as an intern, she developed Art Adventures, a program that has become a legacy providing art therapy internships as well as providing mental health for hundreds of children.
After graduating she practiced in the Ann Arbor area for several years, but after becoming empty nesters her and Bob moved to the Grand Rapids area to be close to their children and to fulfill her dream of living near water. Once settled, she built a thriving private practice whose success was cut-short by her cancer diagnosis.
A memorial gathering for family and friends of the family will be taking place on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 2:00 to 7:30 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, Michigan 48843.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Community Bible Church, 7372 Grand River in Brighton, Michigan with a gathering starting at 10am before the service starting at 11 am.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Deb's name.
