Deborah Dodds was born in Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania on March 9, 1962, to her
parents Donald and Dolores Shaw. She was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2017 when
she was 56 years old. Even though treatment was successful, and Debbie was deemed cancer
free, she passed away from treatment side effects suddenly on September 1 st of 2023 at the age
of 61.
Debbie went to nursing school and graduated with a certificate in nursing at the age of 21. She
started her career working at Metropolitan Hospital until it closed and then moved on to
dedicate another 30 years of her life at St Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia. At 22 years old she
married the love of her life, Stephen Dodds, and was half of a beautiful marriage which lasted
for a wonderful 39 years. At 23 she had her first-born daughter, Erin, and two years later had
her youngest, Megan. She dedicated her life taking care of others either while nursing or
making sure her family had everything.
Debbie had a deep passion for life. She had a love for music, shown by going to any U2 concert
she could get tickets to. The Flyers were Debbie's team, and she passed the love for the
organization and sport to both her daughters. She spent her 40 th birthday in the broadcast
booth with Les Bowen. After the game they went to meet the players in the Locker room where
she got a birthday kiss from Craig Berube-her favorite player. For her 60 th, she spent it with
family in Punta Canna. She knew how to have fun and she knew how to love.
She was the beloved wife and best friend of Stephen Dodds. Loving mother of Erin Seifert
(Michael) and Megan Dodds. She is graciously survived by her brother and sister, Donald Shaw
(Linda) and Donna Buckley (Jeremiah).
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday September 8 th, 2023, from 1:00-2:00
