Deborah Edwards Obituary

In Loving Memory of Deborah Ann Edwards
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Deborah Ann Edwards, age 74, of Bellmawr, NJ, who passed away suddenly on December 14, 2024, at Cooper Hospital. Deborah was born on May 30, 1950, in Hollywood, California, to Jean Greenberg and Charles Mather. She was raised by her loving mother, Jean, and stepfather, Al Greenberg, who provided her with unwavering support throughout her life.
Deborah was a woman of great warmth, kindness, and dedication. She had a deep love for her family, her community, and the causes she cared about. Deborah enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit Italy, Germany, and other places that enriched her life. She was an avid reader, particularly fond of mysteries and romances.
A life devoted to service, Deborah's commitment to her community was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs, where she contributed to numerous initiatives that supported others. She also was a member of the GFWC Woman's Club of Runnemede, Ex President's Club of the Garden District, and the State EXCLUB. Deborah also served as a Girl Scout leader, room mother, and was actively involved in the Bellmawr PTO. In addition, she sang in her church choir and was a passionate advocate for giving back to the community.
Above all, Deborah's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Rodger Edwards and her loving children: Jennifer Edwards-Sapio (married to Nick Sapio), Douglas Edwards (married to Heather Edwards), and Jamie Passaro (married to Adam Passaro). She was also the proud and devoted grandmother of seven grandchildren: Tyler Edwards, Bella Edwards, Joshua Edwards, Molly Sapio, Hailey Sapio, Adam Passaro, and Vinny Passaro. She is also survived by her fur babies Murphy, Ginger and Callie.
Deborah's life was defined by her compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and her community. Her warmth, strength, and positive spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of service, love, and devotion will continue to inspire her family and friends for years to come.
A memorial service to celebrate Deborah's life will be held on December 22, 2024, with a viewing from 2:00 to 4:00 PM followed by a service with Father Lipinski at Gardner Funeral Home, 126 S. Black Horse Pike, Runnemede, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that unwrapped toys be brought to the funeral, which will be donated in Deborah's honor. She had a great love for Christmas and was always buying presents and organizing charitable donations to help others, or monetary donations to the Women's Club of Runnemede, please send to the GFWC Women's Club of Runnemede P.O. box 341 Runnemede, NJ 08078.
Deborah will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

I remember meeting Debbie for the first time at a New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs function. She was so warm and friendly.
When I became the Garden District's Vice President in May 2024, Debbie was one of the first women to ask, "how can I help". Debbie took on the position of Garden District Chairman for the Special State Project-NJ Children's Alliance.
Debbie also became Vice President/Membership of the Ex-Presidents' Club of the Garden District of which I am President. She has done an excellent job in that position gathering information for this club's 2024-2026 Yearbook and keeping the members informed.
I will always remember her for her love of her family, friends, and Federation Sisters. She never seemed to say "no" when something needed to be done.
What I learned from Debbie was to take every advantage of helping or doing something for someone.
