Obituary of Deborah J. Emery

EMERY, Deborah J.

Age 68 of Horseheads, NY. She was born August 18, 1957 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late George and Gladys McCann, and passed away peacefully Saturday, August 30, 2025 surrounded by family.

In addition to her parents, Debbie was predeceased by her husband, John Emery, siblings, Penny Guiles (Doug), Doug McCann, Robin Kinner, nephews, David Kirwan (Linda) and Dana Isaac, and beloved fur baby, Destiny.

She is survived by her son, Terry Babcock (Lisa), sister, Nancy Sindelar, brother-in-law, Rick Kinner, grandchildren, Tyler Babcock, Chelsie Babcock, Ashton Babcock, Devon Babcock, great grandchild, Tyler Babcock Jr, along with numerous nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends.

Debbie was a loving mother and grandmother, a lover of all things Golden Girls and M&M's, and someone who enjoyed treasure hunting at yard sales. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing dominoes and UNO, and cooking and baking, always looking for new recipes to try, as well as doing puzzles and color by number paintings on her tablet. Her family and friends will remember her kindness, selflessness, and generosity, as well as her spirit and love for feeding her backyard wildlife friends and birds.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., in Elmira, on Friday, September 19th from 6pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation made to the local SPCA or local veterinary clinic to honor Debbie's love of animals.
