Freck Funeral ChapelDeborah Ann Essing, age 71, of Toledo, passed away on December 5, 2025, at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. Born on September 3, 1954, to James and Ann (Farmer) Marshall in Toledo, Ohio, Deborah was a lifelong resident of the Eastside.
A proud graduate of Waite High School, class of 1972, Deborah furthered her education by obtaining her Bachelor's in Education from the University of Toledo. She dedicated her career to teaching elementary education at Sherman Elementary, where she primarily taught 4th and 5th grades. Deborah's passion for teaching and her ability to connect with children left a lasting impact on her students. Her warm spirit and dedication to education will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She was a loving wife and mother who could be depended on for anything. In her leisure time, Deborah enjoyed reading, streaming her favorite shows on her laptop, and expressing her creativity through writing poetry.
Deborah is survived by her husband Butch Essing Jr.; sons Butchie (Tiffany) Essing III and Jay (Jennifer) Essing; daughter Erin (Shannon Risenburg) Essing; grandchildren Jake (Hannah) and Tori (Robbie); great-grandsons Owen and Oliver; siblings Rebecca Briones, Jim Marshall and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ann, her brother, Danny, and her grandson, Steven.
A celebration of life will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 1 until 3 p.m., where a time of sharing will begin at 3 p.m. Bring your stories and memories to share. Memorial contributions are appreciated to St. Jude’s.
