Deborah Gavin, 73, of Waretown, New Jersey (formerly of Franklin Lakes) died on Thursday, April 24, 2025 after courageously fighting cancer for nearly seven years.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Debbie was one of three children born to Howard and Janet Heinbuch. They moved to Oakland, NJ when Debbie was 10 years old. Debbie went on to graduate from Douglass College of Rutgers University, where in 1971, at the Douglass Library, she met the love of her life and future husband, Paul Gavin. They enjoyed a 51-year journey together filled with love and laughter. Together they raised two sons, David and Scott. Debbie will be remembered by her family as loving, dedicated and supportive.
Debbie and Paul were thrilled to gain two "daughters" when David and Scott married Nicole and Lauren. She loved spending time with her family and hearing the laughs while playing with her four granddaughters, Emma and Katie, Kelly and Kaylee. After raising two sons, she especially enjoyed being a grandmother to four girls.
Debbie and Paul moved to Waretown, NJ in 2012, where they enjoyed being at the beach on LBI and spending time with friends and neighbors. They enjoyed traveling, having taken trips to Italy, China, Europe and Alaska.
She is survived by her sons, David and Scott, and their wives, Nicole and Lauren; her granddaughters Emma and Katie, Kelly and Kaylee; her mother, Janet Heinbuch; brother, David Heinbuch (Maureen), many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul Gavin; father, Howard Heinbuch; and her sister, Lois Brown.
