With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Deborah Jo Buchhorn Gibson on October 7, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.

Deborah was born on August 1, 1955, to Arthur and Dora Buchhorn (Hayman). She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother whose life was defined by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Dora Buchhorn, and her brother, Gordon Buchhorn. She leaves behind a close-knit and loving family: her sisters Judy Buchhorn Bales (Matt) and Angi Buchhorn Kirk (Ken); her children Karey Gibson DeVries and Kevin Gibson (Amber); and her beloved grandchildren Preslie, Aidan, Evan, Parker, Karter, and Kaycee. She also held a deep and special bond with her nieces and nephews-Wesley, Amy, Tim, Kelly, Brian, Jeremy, Ryan, and Sara-loving them as if they were her own.

Deborah's life was centered around family. She was the heart of every gathering, the family's cook, organizer, and host. She was always the room mom, cookie mom, the one with the open house and open heart, welcoming her friends and family at every opportunity. There was no place she loved more than her backyard, especially when it was filled with her grandkids playing baseball and the smell of home cooking in the kitchen.

She loved the water, sunsets, and the simple things in life – a bucket of chicken, her lawn chair, and a Galveston beach sunset was her perfect night. Her love of the water and appreciation for quiet, beautiful moments represent so well the energy she brought into the lives of those around her. She cherished her friends with their Wild Women's Weekends and Girl's Night Out.

Deborah's legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, and a fierce devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the traditions she started, the meals she cooked, and the love she gave so freely.

In her honor, there will be a visitation on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a celebration of life at 3:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A graveside service is also planned for Monday, October 13, 2025 at 10:00am at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Wesley Buchhorn, Tim Buchhorn, Brian Bales, Jeremy Kirk and Ryan Kirk.
