Deborah Greenway Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yuma Mortuary & Crematory on Dec. 23, 2025.
Deborah "Debi" Lou Greenway was born on June 26, 1955, in Spaulding, Nebraska. Debi was fiercely independent, tough, strong-willed, and delightfully stubborn in all the best ways. She had a true gypsy spirit-open-minded and adventurous. She was always ready to explore new places, ideas, and experiences. She loved to laugh, was a true culinary enthusiast and loved to have fun. Exceptionally intelligent, Debi graduated early from high school and later lived in Japan, where she learned Japanese and embraced the culture around her. Never one to believe it was "too late" for anything, she went to college later in life and earned her degree, proving yet again her determination and love of learning. Debi was an avid reader who treasured books and ideas. She was a true pioneer at heart and loved collecting arrow heads and tanning hides like they did in the pioneer days. She had a passionate appreciation for how we are all connected to the earth. She was also a gifted artist and a deeply creative soul. She took up painting later in life and quickly became skilled at it, especially when painting animals. She had a remarkable ability to bring them to life on canvas-particularly through their eyes-capturing their spirit and personality in a way that was uniquely her own. Her creativity shone just as brightly in the kitchen. Debi was a phenomenal cook who could turn leftovers and scraps into a memorable meal. She rarely needed a recipe, cooking instead by instinct and imagination. Among all her specialties, her deviled eggs were legendary and will remain a cherished family recipe and memory. Animals, especially dogs, held a special place in Debi's heart, and the feeling was mutual. She was a true animal lover and an extraordinary dog trainer, even studying under renowned trainer Cesar Millan. Dogs were naturally drawn to her calm confidence and gentle strength, and she had an uncanny ability to understand and communicate with them. Her own fur babies were a constant source of comfort and joy throughout her life. Those who knew Debi will remember her as vibrant, strong, loving, and utterly herself. She lived life on her own terms, with humor and passion. Her spirit, like her laughter, will echo in the memories of all who loved her. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that her gypsy soul is now free. Debi passed away at home on December 15, 2025. Her surviving immediate family members are mother, Dorothy Greenway and sisters, Sue Greenway and Kris Greenway.
