Deborah L. Hegstrom passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Deborah L. Hegstrom was born as Deborah Leigh Du Bois on May 8, 1961. She grew up in Des Moines, IA, at the same address until she moved to Northwestern College. She received a bachelor's degree and soon began working at a company called Bethphage Mission. It was there that she met the love of her life, John R. Hegstrom. They were married on April 28, 1984. About a year later, they welcomed their first child in March of 1985. She and John had three more children, with the last child born in 1991.

Over the years as their family grew, Deborah took on many roles as a mother, a chef, nurse, dentist, teacher, cheerleader, taxi driver, and rock. Her children all married and have given her six granddaughters, which led to her latest role as Grandma. She loved to crochet, fish, and cheer for her children and grandchildren. She is forever loved by all who knew her and always will be, in this life and the next.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Du Bois and Janet Du Bois, and her brother, Dennis Du Bois.

She is survived by her husband, John Hegstrom; her four children, Paul Hegstrom, Rachel Green, Matthew Hegstrom, and Sarah McCoy, and her six grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be left at www.mosermemorialchapels.com.
