Deborah Hotte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sanderson Funeral Service - Middlebury on Nov. 26, 2025.
Deborah "Debbie" Hotte (Ash), 72, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones, on November 23, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
She was the daughter of Leonard Ash and Mary Adair (Sevigny) and grew up on a dairy farm in New Haven, VT, graduating from Mount Abraham Union High School in 1971. She retired from Middlebury College in 2016, where she worked in Dining Services for 29 years.
Debbie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 32 years, Frederick Hotte and her brother Steven. She is survived by her siblings Joanne, Michael, Shari, Cindy and their families; her children Jennifer Boujoulian (Jeff), Amy Bergevin, and Bradley Bergevin (Ruth); her step-children Darcie Arensmeyer (Dan) and David Hotte; as well as 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Debbie devoted her life to caring for others, first as a loving older sibling and later as the heart of every family gathering. She found joy in cooking, feeding those she loved, and creating a warm place for people to come together. Her work in college food service gave her the same fulfillment-nourishing others and offering kindness in everyday moments. She will be remembered for her generosity, her welcoming spirit, and the comfort she brought to so many through her love and her food.
A service will be held at Sanderson Funeral Home in Middlebury, VT on Friday December 5th at 11am. A private burial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation, in Debbie's honor, to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance or Addison County Home Health & Hospice.
