Jon Zimnick Obituary

Visit the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Jon R. Zimnick, a beacon of inspiration and love, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Williamsport at the age of 58. Born on July 16, 1967, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Jon's life was a vibrant tapestry of passion, service, and creativity.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Jon served his country with distinction while stationed in Spain. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career as he became an integral part of the Civil Air Patrol, where he not only participated as a member but also shared his knowledge as a teacher.

Jon's professional journey included a successful tenure in sales and wireless operations at Verizon Wireless. However, it was his diverse interests that truly defined him. A lover of air and space museums, Jon was a former board member of the Piper Aviation Museum. His fascination with the skies was matched by his love for the written word, particularly the works of Robert Jordan and Douglas Adams. The "Wheel of Time" series held a special place in his heart, as did the realms of science fiction and history.

An artist at heart, Jon expressed himself through painting and woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected his inner world. He found joy in the mechanics of motorcycles and cherished his membership in the Alternative Motorcycle Club Williamsport Chapter. Fishing trips with his father were among his most treasured memories, a testament to the deep bond they shared.

Jon's faith was a cornerstone of his life. A devoted attendee of Pentecostal churches in the area, he was baptized through Williamsport Assembly of God, where he found community and purpose. His dedication to helping others was evident in his work with the Roads to Freedom Center for Independent Living, where he served on the board of directors until his passing.

Above all, Jon cherished his family. He was the beloved husband and best friend of N. Elaine (Evans) Zimnick for over 32 years, married for nearly 25 of those years. He is survived by his loving wife, his mother Betty L. (Peaslee) Grosso (Doug) of Castleton, Vermont; and his three sisters: Beth Wolven-Cressoti (Leah) of Westfield, Massachusetts; Tracey L. Zimnick (Gregory R. Marcy) of Middletown Springs, Vermont; and Jessica L. Gildersleeve (William K.) of South Wallingford, Vermont. Jon was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and a devoted companion to his fur babies: Callie, Duffy 2.0, Angel, and Tuxedo.

Jon was preceded in death by his father, Thomas W. Stanley, his brother Kirk Zimnick, and his uncle Robert Moses Peaslee, II.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation from noon until 1pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Williamsport Assembly of God Church, 1230 Sheridan St., Williamsport. A memorial service with Military Honors will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church with Pastor Darrin Mitchley officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church.
