Deborah Howie Huffman, 58, passed away on March 28, 2025. She was born and raised in Monroe, NC on July 27, 1966, daughter to Marjorie Helms Plyler and Ben Plyler. She is also preceded in death by her father Paul Howie Jr. and step-mother Pat Howie; grandparents Clayton and Minnie Helms, Paul and Bessie Howie; and a very special nephew Willie Plowman whom she loved with all her heart.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service with interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
Debbie graduated from Sun Valley High School in 1984. Debbie worked various types of jobs until she was declared disabled with multiple sclerosis in 1991. Debbie had a positive attitude and never lost her faith in God even during all of the health issues. She never asked the question "Why me" but would always say "Why not me." She had a very special love for all animals and never wanted to see one mistreated.
Debbie is survived by her parents Marjorie and Ben Plyler; sister Donna Plowman and husband Jerry; nephew John Plowman; step-brother Eric Plyler; she is also survived by numerous cousins and two very special aunts that she was close to.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; Hospice of Union County 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe, NC 28110; or any cancer research organization of your choice.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Union County for the compassionate and loving nurses that came to her home providing care and for the nurses and assistants at the Hospice House.
