Deborah (Anderson) Johnson's Obituary
June 14, 1950- May 23, 2023
On May 23, 2023, Deborah Frances (Anderson) Johnson, 72, of Plainfield, NJ, entered her eternal rest. She passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia, where she resided during her later years. Debi was born on June 14, 1950, at Muhlenberg Hospital to her late parents, Thomas Anderson and Lillie Belle Jeter. She lived a life full of zest with a vibrant style and a heart to help others.
Debi graduated from Plainfield High School, class of 1968, and continued to nursing school. She was a social butterfly with a larger-than-life personality. Her outgoing nature continued well into her adulthood. She enjoyed being with her many friends and was an exceptionally sharp dresser, frequenting Bamberger's and the thrift shop. Concerts, class reunions, shopping, book clubs, dining out with friends, and looking good brought her great joy.
Her time working for Eastern Airlines would find her relocating to Salt Lake City and Atlanta, but she found her way back to New Jersey, spending her final working years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at a nursing home and retiring as the school nurse of a preschool learning center in East Orange.
A mother of five (Umar Abdul-Baseer (Dana), Farah Slaughter, Mykael Slaughter (Mona), Morgan Reid (Randy), and Raymond Johnson), grandmother of seventeen, and great-grandmother of three, Debi was as devoted as she could be to her family. One of her greatest expressions and examples of love came when she stepped in to raise four grandchildren. All of whom she leaves behind clinging close to their memories of her. She also leaves behind two sisters, Karen Woodley and Linda Graves, two brothers, Walter McNeil (Felicia) and Richard McNeil, and countless loved ones who adored her.
Debi was cremated on June 8, and a memorial service will be held on July 15, 2023, at 10:00A at Judkins Colonial Home. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at the New Market Fire Company in Piscataway.

I loved when my grandmother alaways used to help me with my homework when it was last

Debi, it was sad moment when I received the phone call from Morgan about your passing. You and I had just exchanged Mother's Day Greetings the week before.

Nevertheless, I will always remember our PHS 68 Senior Prom. Also, the years at Faith Fellowship Ministries World Outreach Center was rewarding. Especially, when you brought our sons there to see the football player from California and I brought my father because he was ill. God blessed them all.

It was always a joy to see the smile on your face when Alex and I came to visit you when we traveled to Plainfield. I will miss our times of laughter and sharing.

Our condolences to the family for the loss of their loved one.
