In Loving Memory of Sharon Lavette Mitchell-Beard

September 10, 1953 – August 28, 2025

Sharon Lavette Beard, age 71, peacefully passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 28, 2025. She

was born on September 10, 1953, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to the late Alice Mae Lee and Lawrence Mitchell.

Sharon was raised in a loving home and graduated from Plainfield High school where she began to shape the

values of strength, faith, and compassion that would define her life.

A devoted homemaker and cherished member of the New Generation Worship Center, Sharon lived a life

grounded in faith and love. Her greatest joys were the simple pleasures of life such as working on crossword

puzzles, attending church services, singing and spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, and

great-grandchildren. Her smile, warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit touched everyone who had the

privilege of knowing her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alice and Lawrence Mitchell Sr. and her dear son,

Donald Fitz.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her daughters, LaShanda Mitchell of Macungie, PA, and Allison Darrell

(Samuel) of Plainfield, NJ; Her son, Shepherd Fitz (Christina) of Edison, NJ.

Also, her siblings: brothers Lawrence "Mickey" Mitchell Jr, Michael Wright, Mark Willis (Karen) and Tyrone

Willis plus sisters Cheryl Willis-Moore, Sandra Willis-Baker & Gail Willis-Shaw.

She is also lovingly remembered by 22 grandchildren: Kasemah Daves (William), Najerah Mitchell, Ja'Juan

Mitchell, Ehndia Johnson, Fuquan Johnson, Erica Haugabook, Kiiantay Darrell, Samuel Darrell III, Justin

Darrell, Christopher Darrell, Shalinda Darby, Tierra Darby, Lamar Darby, Shantirah Darby, Nyasia Darby, Krista

Mosley, Chantz Fitz, Taetum Fitz, Channing Fitz, Dontae Brown, Jasmin Foster, Donyae Council.

She is further survived by 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished

friends.

Sharon's legacy is one of love, faith, and family. Her life was a testimony of strength, devotion and redemption.

Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A celebration of her life will be held September 6, 2025, 10:00am Viewing – 11:00am
