It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Deborah Eileen Klontz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who left us on September 12, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in Jackson, MI, on July 6, 1954, Deborah, known affectionately as Deb or Debbie, was a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Klontz; her children, Frederick Dula-Klontz, Ashley (Klontz) Langland (spouse Michael), and Sean (Klontz) Zwinklontz (spouse Sarah); and her adored grandchildren, Soleil, Pierre, Avant, Iyana, Machai, Fred Mike, Isabella, Graham, Avery, and Finn. She was also the proud great-grandmother of AJ. Deborah is remembered by her siblings Nancy, Paul (Kathy), Bruce (Patricia), Kip (Amy), Cindy (step-sister, Rob), and Kim (step-sister), and was preceded in death by her brother, Gary. She was the daughter of Charles Winklepleck and Rose Grigsby, who have also passed.
Deborah dedicated much of her life to serving others in her role as a high school secretary, most recently as the head secretary at William Horlick High School in Racine, WI. Her commitment and care were evident in every task she undertook and in the selfless way she approached relationships with friends and family both. She was a thoughtful and often fierce advocate for all of her loved ones, making sure you knew she was thinking about you.
Outside of work, Deb was passionate about may activities including crafting (painting ceramics, a master behind the sewing machine) gardening and shopping to find a great deal or gifts for those she loved, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She found solace and wonder in the beauty of nature and enjoyed many moments outdoors, particularly in warm locations.
Deborah was a courageous warrior who battled cancer with unwavering strength for six years. Her resilience and grace were a testament to her indomitable spirit. She is now at peace, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held in the coming months for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either The National Park Service (nps.gov) or American Cancer Society (cancer.org) in Deborah's honor.
Deborah's warmth, kindness, and loving nature will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
