Deborah Jean Linkous Echols (Debbie) passed away peacefully May 23, 2025 with her devoted partner of 29 years, Rob Chiles, by her side.
She was a true native of Blacksburg, where she lived her entire life. She was born October 17, 1953 and graduated Blacksburg High School in 1972.
She was proceeded in death by her father David H. Linkous, her Mother Betty MacSweeney, whom she adored and her beloved little toy poodle, Jitterbug.
Debbie was a fun and dynamic woman who loved life, gardening, shopping and going on travel adventures. She especially enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach and Pigeon Forge, TN. If ever something needed to be done, she could be counted on to get it done correctly. Every spring she would light up knowing she was going to be planting flowers and enjoying nature. She loved watching Virginia Tech sports and was an enthusiastic supporter of the University.
Debbie fought valiantly to the end and did not go gentle into that good night. She is now and will forever be deeply missed.
Debbie requested that no services be held and her burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, one of her favorite shopping places was the Thrift Well shop in Christiansburg. Please consider making a donation to them in her name to support their mission.
