Deborah “Deb” E. Metro, 67, of New London, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Twilight Gardens Care Center in Norwalk. Deb was born in Wilmington, Delaware on January 19, 1958, the daughter of the later James and Anita (Shaw) Goshorn.
Due to her dad’s military service, Deb spent her teen years in England and graduated from Dustin High School in Dustin, England, where she developed a lifelong friendship with her dear friend, Sue Thompson. Deb married Steven Metro on September 26, 1981, and together they began a life filled with love and shared memories. Deb was a dispatcher for the New London Police Department before focusing her time on raising their family. She was a familiar name and active member of the F.A.R.M. Inc., and Buckeye Wheel Horse Collectors Club. Deb enjoyed camping with her family and friends, reading books, and bird watching. She never passed at an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, especially Connor and Colton, who were often not far from her side.
Deb is survived by her children, Stephen (Amanda) Metro of North Fairfield, OH, Joe (Shelley) Metro of Norwalk, OH and Ray (Tracy) Laurence of Parma, OH; grandchildren, Connor, Colton, and Wessen Metro, Christopher and Michaela Laurence; her sisters, Jackie Grabenhorst of Tampa, FL and Kelly (Dan) Rogers of Parma, OH and lifelong best friend, Sue Thompson of Northampton, England. In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by her husband, Steven in 2024, sister, Vickie Davis and brother-in-law, Michael Grabenhorst.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. with her Memorial Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W Main St., New London, OH 44851.
