Deborah Marie Paugels, age 67, of Neshkoro, formerly of Berlin, died peacefully at home on Sandy Lake with her beloved dog Sookie by her side on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

She was born August 2, 1958, in Spring Lake, WI, the daughter of Carl and Marcella Makurat Trochinski. Deb was a 1976 graduate of Wautoma High School. On May 15, 1982, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Paugels, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Berlin.

After high school, Deb started working for a law firm in Wautoma before moving to Berlin where she worked at Wilson-Hurd for over 20 years. She also worked for Citywide Insulation in Oshkosh, Bemis, where she semi-retired, and then part-time in the bakery at Kwik Trip. After fully retiring, she and Jim moved to the lake. Deb enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for the kids, gardening and camping for many years with her brother, Richard "Dick" Trochinski.

She was so deeply devoted and loved her grandkids very much. They affectionately called her "Nana". Her grandkids were truly the light of her life. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them. Deb attended all of their sporting events as the loudest and proudest cheerleader! She leaves behind a void that cannot be filled.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jim; daughter, Lisa (Travis) Haedt; son, Adam (Sam) Paugels; two grandchildren, Tatym and Jase; brother and sisters, Sharon Burk, Michael (Cookie) Trochinski, Kathy Herschberger, Karen Newell, Tom Trochinski, Kenny (Sandy) Trochinski, Susie (Terry) Elendt, Leon (Barb) Trochinski, Jeff (Julie) Trochinski, Mary Borland, Rosie (Shawn) Kowalewski, Danny (Donna) Trochinski and Dennis (Deb) Trochinski; mother-in-law, Diane Paugels; brothers-in-law, Robert (Mary Lou) Paugels and Tom (Erin) Brey; sisters-in-law, Missy Brey and Judith Trochinski; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Dennis (Juanita) Kasuboski, Butch (Linda) Klauer, Donna Petit and Sara Pham; and many friends and family she had throughout her years of working. Deb was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, infants Joseph and Steven Trochinski, Larry Trochinski and Richard "Dick" Trochinski; two nephews, Brian McBriar and Eric Trochinski; father-in-law, Robert Paugels; three brothers-in-law, John Burk, Larry Herschberger and Ward Newell; two sisters-in-law, Gail Trochinski and Janice Paugels; and her great friend she met while working at Bemis, Marcia.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Anyone wishing to send a sympathy card to the family, please mail to Deborah Paugels, c/o Barbola Funeral Chapel, PO Box 201, Berlin, WI 54923.
