Sadly, on November 14, 2023, our dear friend Deborah Pyne, passed away in her home with loves ones by her side.
Deb was born in 1948 to Schyrl and Elizabeth Bokemire who have both preceded her in death. She has one older brother named Steven Bokemire. At the age of 12, her family relocated to Anaheim California, a place she considered home. Deb attended Magnolia High School and later graduated college at the University of Redlands. She went on to join the Anaheim police force. Graduating from the police academy was a life changing experience for her and the starting point of becoming her best self. As a police officer, she accepted every opportunity for growth and thrived when it came to new challenges. This resulted in multiple achievements, such as getting chosen to oversee the hostage negotiations team.
Working for the Anaheim PD and the people she met along her journey were some of her fondest memories. Later Deb made the difficult decision to leave the PD and become a Federal Law Enforcement officer in Houston Texas. Unfortunately, while working this job, Deb was injured in the line of duty and was forced to retire due to the severity of her injuries. This resulted in her making Arizona her permanent home.
Deb loved her home and the scenery she saw out her windows each day. She enjoyed tending to her horses, cats and watching all the many critters run around her property. For a short time, Deb was able to share her home with her dad, whom she adored.
Deb loved life and made sure to live hers to the fullest. She had a passion for participating in sports and physical fitness, traveling around the world and being out in nature. She had a taste for fashion and always wanted to look her best. Deb loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She was very festive and loved all the joy that the Christmas season brings. You could always count on her house being beautifully decorated. She very much enjoyed getting together with her friends and playing cards or watching family swim in her pool.
Deb often shared her testimony of Jesus Christ and about finding and joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. She described getting baptized as being the most joyful and best decision of her life. She was so grateful for all the blessings and miracles that she experienced from knowing the Savior. She expressed so much appreciation for all the love she felt not only from God but from all the people she gained in her life after joining the church.
Despite the many physical disabilities and challenges she endured during the last years of her life; she always kept a positive outlook. She had a great smile, and her laugh was contagious. She always laughed at everyone's jokes, even when they weren't funny, and made everyone she interacted with feel good. She could effortlessly light up a room and knew how to have a good time.
Deborah leaves behind many loved ones and her two precious cats Walter and Zoey

Gordon Sjue

November 24, 2023

My name is Gordon Sjue. I am a retired State Department, Diplomatic Security Special Agent. I sat on the board that hired Debbie at DS. She was a fine addition to our organization and brought with her invaluable law enforcement experience. She had a wonderful zest for life and an infectious personality. She later became a good friend and we shared many great conversations about our job and life in general. It was sad that her career with DS was cut short as she was the kind of agent who had the ability to make a great difference and would have progressed high up the ranks. May she rest in peace.
