Deborah Sue Ryan

Deborah Ryan, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after bravely battling pancreatic cancer for the past year. Born on October 3, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan, Deborah was the beloved daughter of Charles and Valerie Ryan. Her family relocated to Williamston when she was in the 3rd grade, and it was there that she spent her formative years, graduating from Williamston High School in 1974.
Deborah dedicated 24 years of her life in service to Michigan's educators at the Michigan Department of Education. Her commitment to improving the lives of educators and ensuring high standards in education has left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the educational community.
Deborah's legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. She will be fondly remembered for her warmth, wit, and unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her loving daughter Faye Shepler, granddaughter Valerie Shepler, and baby Winnie Cooper Ryan, who will forever cherish her light and spirit. Deborah is also survived by Neil F. O'Brien, brother Mike and sister-in-law Lisa Ryan, their sons Michael and Jared, niece Angela and nephew-in-law Tim Larson, and their children Charley Rian and Graham. Additionally, she leaves behind her dear friend of over 30 years, Debbie Andrews, who shared many cherished memories.
Deborah Ryan's life was a testament to courage, kindness, and dedication. She touched the lives of many with her infectious spirit and compassionate heart. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of Deborah's life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, 6301 W. St. Joe Highway, Lansing with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
