Deborah S. Simmons, 71, of Washington Court House, died Sunday evening, January 14, 2024, in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. She was born on Wednesday, April 21, 1952, in Washington Court House, the daughter of the late Charles and Garnett Roberts Cottrell. She married William E. Simmons, and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2019.
She is survived by her three children, John (Jenifer) Hawkins of Hillsboro, Mindy (John) Houser of Chillicothe, Eric (Sarah) Hawkins of Washington Court House, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, one brother, and her special companion and friend, Precious. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, and one brother.
Deborah loved spending time outdoors and to play dice games like Yahtzee. Her greatest love was her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Deborah will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield, with Pastor Chris Stokes officiating. Following the funeral cremation will take place, and Deborah will then be buried next to her husband, William Simmons, in South Salem Cemetery. Family and friends can visit with Deborah’s family on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
