John R. McMullen, 68, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2026, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, following a lingering illness. He was born on Wednesday, August 21, 1957 in Greenfield, the son of the late Hamilton and Joanne Berger McMullen. John was preceded in death by his wife, the former Robin Gayle Gunter.
He is survived by his daughter; Jillian McMullen (Steven Knedler, Jr.) of Greenfield, one son; James Gunter of Chillicothe, eight grandchildren; Jacob Knedler, Kaysha McMullen, Tyson Knedler, Leland Knedler, Jamison, Justice and Zane Gunter and Caydance Gullette. John is also survived by two sisters; Shirley Jackson of Lakeland, FL and Connie Speakman of Columbus and one brother; James McMullen of Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by two sons, Justin and Joey McMullen and one brother, Fred McMullen.
John was a veteran of the United States Navy. He returned to Greenfield and worked as a boiler technician at the Waddell Company. John was a member of the St. Benignus Catholic Church in Greenfield.
In keeping with John's wishes, he will be cremated and he will be buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Greenfield this Spring, his favorite season. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery. The Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home of Greenfield is serving the family.
