Deborah A. Simon, 71 of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on July 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness.

Deborah was known for her nurturing spirit, unwavering support, deep devotion, resilience, and boundless love. Deborah was born on July 7, 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents, Miss Ella Player and Mr. David Simon.

Deborah's love for performance began early in life. Alongside her brother Wallace (also known as "Baby James Brown") and her sister Tricia, she performed as a backup dancer; The radio station WWIN-known at the time as "Hot Rod". Starting at a young age of nine, Deborah's passion for dance flourished later in life, she joined a dance group with her sisters and close friends called "The Hot Chocolates," During the 1980's , she performed at various venues, including out-of-town locations such as Darlington S.C, Boston, and Philadelphia. Her performances included shows for Bill Dotson and events at the Baltimore City Jail.

After graduating from Venable High School, Deborah began working during her teenage and early adult years. She held a position at John Hopkins Hospital in the Ward Office, where she prepared dietary menus for patients. She later transferred to the Environmental Services Department. Deborah discovered her true calling-caring for children. She went on to open her own childcare business in her home, which she operated with dedication for 25 years, continuing even until her passing.

Deborah had a deep passion for traveling, enjoying family vacations, bus trips, and getaways to Atlantic City. She loved cooking for family events and spending time with the children in her daycare. A true lover of music and movement, she found joy in swing dancing and listening to "Oldies But Goodies," with Luther Vandross being her favorite artist.

Deborah Simon was preceded in demise by her beloved mother, Miss Ella Player, and her father Mr. David Simon. She was also predeceased by her sisters Ida Mae Brown, Martha Lee Graham, and Theresa Patricia-Keys; her brothers David Emmanuel Wells, and Wallace Simon; brothers-in-law Curtis Johnson Sr., and Lewis Jones; spiritual daughter Shamise Green.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Ellis Atoy Patterson, Remme Patterson, and Delmonte Miles, her grandchildren Sha'Lyha Jackson and David Jackson. Her surviving sisters include Margaret Jones and Denise Player Davis, honorary sister Phyllis Robinson, and brother-in-law Frank Graham; many nieces and nephews; great - nieces and great - nephews ;her extended African family; and a host of cherished friends.
