Deborah Simonson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 6, 2023.
We gather to celebrate the life of Deborah "Debbie" Simonson, a compassionate light and spirited soul, born on February 17, 1952, in Lackawanna, NY, and who lived a life full of laughter, love, and loyalty. Making her home in Painted Post, NY, Deborah was known for her robust sense of humor and the joy she brought to those lucky enough to know her. Her vivacity was infectious, and her zest for life was as colorful as the many stories she collected from her beloved estate sales trips with her sister.
Deborah, a loyal and dedicated lab technician, retired in 2010 after 31 active and impactful years at Corning Incorporated. After retirement, her spirited personality never faded, and her sense of humor stayed as sharp as ever. Throw in her love for her family, and you have a person who was genuinely human, truly unique, and deeply loved. She was a rock-strong, dependable, and always there for her loved ones.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Scott Simonson, whom she married on July 22, 2005, and her precious children, Jody Birdsall, Jamie Phenes, Stephanie Burke, and Kelly Pratt. She is also survived by her siblings, Jacqueline Stone and Scott Phenes. She now joins her parents, Lesley and Bernice Phenes, and her sisters, Diane and Barbara, who preceded her in death. Debbie has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Debbie's care was entrusted to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. Her life was a testament to her strength and unyielding love for her family. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. To honor her life, we encourage friends and family to contribute by sharing memories, photos, and stories on her memorial page at www.haugheyfuneralhome.com. Her story doesn't end here; it lives on in each of us and in the love she shared so generously.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Rd., Painted Post, NY 14870, https://carefirstny.org/.
